A collaborative housing project developed in Milan, exploring shared living through a mix of private and collective spaces.
Common ground is a group project developed within an academic and professional context in Milan, in collaboration with Abitare Societa Cooperativa.
The project proposes a cooperative living model where different household typologies, including families, students, and elderly residents, coexist within a shared architectural framework.
The design is organized through a clear spatial hierarchy, combining private residential units with shared infrastructures such as kitchens, laundry spaces, common rooms, and a central garden. these collective elements are not imposed, but act as catalysts for interaction, allowing community to emerge naturally through daily use.
Adaptability plays a key role in the project, with flexible elements such as adjustable partitions and green buffer systems mediating between private and shared areas. this allows the building to respond to changing lifestyles while maintaining spatial clarity.
The project aligns with collaborative and non-profit housing principles, focusing on accessibility, inclusivity, and long-term usability rather than fixed domestic models.
